It is a great pleasure for us to invite You to participate in the "International Workshop on Local and Regional Challenges of Climate Change Adaptation and Green Technologies" in the frame of the RECLAND and VITEG projects, which will be held in Sopron, Hungary, 18-20 September 2014.

 

CONTENTS:

- Call for papers

Deadline of final paper submission: 15th September 2014

Papers should be sent via e-mail in MS Word and PDF format to: polgar.andras[at]emk.nyme.hu

All submitted papers should be written in English or Hungarian. Each paper will be peer reviewed. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register the work.

All accepted papers will be included in the WS Proceedings (in English and Hungarian with ISBN) named (Local and Regional Challenges of Climate Change Adaptation and Green Technologies), edited by András Polgár - Tamás Bazsó - Gabriella Nagy - Borbála Gálos and published by University of West Hungary Press.

Authors guidelines:

The text should be formatted in MS Word. Instead of a hardcopy please send your paper also in pdf format. Final paper (min. 4 pages (A4)), including tables and references, should not be longer than 10 pages (A4) including figures and graphs.

Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible. The articles should be structured as follows (the parts in bold fonts are obligatory): 

  • Title (should be clear, descriptive and not too long, avoid unnecessary words like “data”, “results”, “experiments” etc.) 
  • Name and affiliation of the author(s) 
  • E-mail and complete postal address of the corresponding author 
  • Abstract (The paper should start with a short summary of the contents of the paper, not exceeding 160 words altogether.)
  • Keywords (indexing terms), normally 3-6 items 
  • Text with inserted figures/tables (It should be divided into sections, each with number and section heading. Use no more than three grades of headings. – Main sections e.g. Introduction; Material studied, area descriptions, methods, techniques; Results; Discussion; Conclusion. The heading titles should be short and clearly numbered.)
  • Acknowledgements and any additional information concerning supporting grants, etc. 
  • References 
  • Appendices

The participation on the WS presentations is free.

 

- Workshop topics

Introduction of the RECLAND and VITEG module contents, climate change adaptation, climate impact assessment, environmental impact assessment, remote sensing in CC, life cycle assessment in CC, environmental management in CC, roles of forest in CC, water and energy cycle of forests, carbon sequestration, carbon footprint, green technologies.

 

- Workshop Location: Sopron is situated close to the Austrian border in the West-Transdanubian Region, at the feet of the Alps. It creates a bridge between Hungary and its western neighbors, opening a gate for foreign guests visiting Hungary. Sopron is the second richest city in Hungary in terms of its historic buildings, making it one of the favorite tourist destinations. The people of this city are famous for their loyalty to their country, and their hometown. Sopron is also famous for its wine growing and wine making culture - especially the “Kékfrankos“ (Blue Frankish) type.
